Getting to the Royal Holloway Campus

By Road: The College is on the A30, 19 miles from central London and about a mile south-west of Egham. It is two miles from junction 13 of the M25 (London Orbital). After leaving the motorway take the A30 west, signposted to Bagshot and Camberley (this is the Egham by-pass). At the end of the Egham by-pass, continue on the A30 up Egham Hill (a petrol station is on your left); the College is on the left towards the top of the hill. The main entrance is immediately on the left after the second footbridge. Visitor parking permits can be obtained from Founder’s Security Control Centre.

By Train: There are frequent services from London Waterloo to Egham (40 minutes); Woking to Egham (35 minutes, change at Weybridge) and Reading to Egham (40 minutes). Services at weekends, especially those on Sunday, are less frequent than on weekdays. Train links to the rest of the country are available via the London stations or Reading. Eurostar services to mainland Europe also operate in and out of London. For local train timetables, visit: www.southwesttrains.co.uk/.

On Foot from Egham: The College is about a mile from Egham Station, approximately 20 minutes walk. Turn right out of the station along Station Road and walk about 100 yards to the T-Junction and the traffic lights. Turn left at the junction and follow the road up to the large roundabout; go left up Egham Hill. The nearest College entrance is through a person gate in the brick wall on the left immediately before the first footbridge (the vehicle access here is restricted by iron gates). The main College entrance is on the left immediately after the second footbridge. A simplified map of the walking route from the train station to the campus is accessible at: http://www.rhul.ac.uk/shared/maps/.

By Taxi from Egham: There is a taxi rank at Egham station in the main car park. The fare is about £5 from the rail station to the campus. Local taxi firms include:Thames Cars (01784 471001), Egham Cars (01784 434646), and Gemini Cars (01784 471111).

By Air: Heathrow airport is about seven miles from the College and the journey is quickest by taxi. Black Taxis are available at the airport but only at a premium rate and not all drivers are willing to travel to Egham as it is outside the official London area. It is cheaper to phone one of the Egham taxi services (they can be booked in advance). Alternatively, bus number 71 goes half-hourly to the College from Terminal 5 (35 minutes). A longer route (55 minutes) is via bus number 441, leaving half-hourly from Heathrow Central Bus Station.

From Gatwick airport, take the train to Clapham Junction and change for a train to Egham (the final destination is Reading and they usually depart from platform 5 or 6). An Egham taxi may agree to collect you from Gatwick airport but the train is normally convenient and much cheaper. For information on flights and airport facilities visit: www.baa.com.
